Pharmacy QIOSC

FMQAI in the role of the Pharmacy Quality Improvement Organization Support Center (QIOSC) provides technical assistance to the network of Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations in all fifty states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico (the Virgin Islands are exempt from Task 1D3). The Medicare Part D pharmacy benefit that started in January 1, 2006 is a major expansion for the Medicare Program. The QIOSC will assist QIOs in building and applying expertise in quality improvement efforts related to pharmaceutical care management.

Project concepts will include initiatives in electronic prescribing, improved self-management through medication therapy management services, improved prescribing practices, and disease specific therapy. In the near future, tools, links, articles and presentations will be available through MedQIC.org.
